This is not a blog …

August 1, 2011

… and certainly not a cycling blog, despite the picture. A blog is basically a mixture of public diary and amateur newspaper and I really don’t fancy doing that. What if no-one reads it? What if too many people read it? What if I run out of things to say? How can I balance being exciting with being thoughtful and avoiding over-simplification? How can I maintain the pretence that I’m a calm and well-mannered person? How long before I start frothing at the mouth and shouting? Well yes, some people manage it, but I suspect I’d just find it one more thing to fret about. And anyway, there seem to be plenty of other people doing a good job in the areas I’m interested in.

OK so I have an interest in sustainable transport – with particular reference to the self-powered modes. I’ve been reading about this over the years and all this undirected information sort of sloshes around in my head, making me rather upset. I thought that maybe one way to sort this out and clear my headspace, would be to bung it all down in the form of a glossary.
